St. Christopher Woodwind Quintet earned international recognition in 2007 when it garnered first prize and award for the best performance of the obligatory piece at the Henri Tomasi International Woodwind Quintet Competition in Marseille (France). In 2008, in the Osaka International Chamber Music Competition and Festa (Japan) it came the forth among 230 collectives from around the world.
Formed in 2003, the St. Christopher Quintet has already taken part in such festivals as Sugrįžimai (Vilnius, Lithuania), Druskomanija (Druskininkai, Lithuania), Sekmadienio muzika (Kaunas, Lithuania), FIMU (Belfort, France), etc. The Quintet has given concerts in Lithuania, France, Russia and Switzerland; often appears in educational events.
St. Christopher Woodwind Quintet’s repertoire is comprised of the music by Mozart, Danzi, Taffanel, Villa-Lobos, Tomasi, Barber, Berio, Ligeti, Janáček, Farkas and other composers.The Quintet is expanding the repertoire for woodwind instruments through active cooperation with contemporary composers and performance of works for quintet by Kuprevičius, Balakauskas, Vitkauskaitė, Baltakas and others.
