Tonight the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, Turkish harpist Çağatay Akyol and Azerbaijani conductor Yalçin Adigözəlov will take the audience to the East. The harpist Akyol studied at the Ankara State Conservatoire and the Berlin Music Academy; has performed with various Turkish and European orchestras. He has appeared in a number of festivals including Salzburg Festival, Mahler Festival in Amsterdam, Budapest Spring, Schleswig-Holstein, Wien Modern, BBC Proms, Festival de Radio France en Montpellier and Ferrara Musica, collaborated with Claudio Abbado, Bernard Haitink, Riccardo Chailly, Péter Eötvös, Giuseppe Sinopoli, Tugan Sokhiev, Daniele Gatti, Vladimir Fedoseyev and other renowned conductors.
Adigözəlov is, perhaps, the most celebrated Azerbaijani conductor. He has worked and continues to collaborate with Azerbaijan’s leading orchestras and opera theatres. He has also led American, Brazilian, Mexican, South African, Vietnamese, Chinese, Russian and many European orchestras. Adigözəlov has appeared in Cadogan Hall, Barbican centre, Westminster Abbey, Arena di Verona, Konzerthaus Berlin, Smetana Hall in Prague, Beijing Opera, Moscow Conservatoire, etc.
The concert programme features works by Marcel Grandjany, Maurice Ravel, as well as Turkish and Azerbaijani composers.
