When piano encounters are transferred from contest setting to concert ambiance, the listeners get to enjoy a true musical feast. And that is exactly tonight’s intention: appearance of two outstanding pianists, a double recital resembling a sounding posy over two international piano competitions. The 6th Vilnius Piano Festival proudly presents two winners of last-year’s prestigious international competitions: French pianist Théo Fouchenneret, who shared the first prize with Russian pianist Dmitry Shishkin at the Geneva International Piano Competition, and Russian pianist Anton Yashkin, a winner of the first prize at the International Franz Liszt Piano Competition in Weimar. Both recitals program masterpieces of Clara Schumann’s associates. The audience will also be offered Fauré’s nocturnes, quite rarely featured on Lithuanian concert scene.
