In the end of July–beginning of August, the festival Night Serenades for the 48th time returns to Amber Museum in Palanga, one of the most beautiful seaside resorts on the Baltic coast. Admired for its special atmosphere this concert series has become a prominent gathering place for classical musicians and music lovers. Led by Sergej Krylov the festival’s resident Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra is one of the most ingenious Lithuanian orchestras boasting rich experience and recognition in the West. In the Night Serenades’opening concert the LCO shares the stage with flutist Maria Fedotova, the member of Sankt Petersburg Mariinsky Theatre symphony orchestra. She started to play flute at a very early age under the tutelage of her father, a renowned Russian flutist Vladimir Fedotov. Tonight the orchestra is led by Maestro Modestas Pitrėnas, one of the leading baton masters in Lithuania. The concert series opens with the festivals’ traditional opus – Mozart’s Eine kleine Nachtmusik. It will be followed by concertos for flute and orchestra of the Viennese classicist as well as Arvydas Malcys, contemporary Lithuanian composer.
