Premieres and Classics

Works by Domenico Cimarosa, Georg Philipp Telemann, Feliksas Bajoras, Jonas Tamulionis, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Gioacchino Rossini

Having marked its 30th creative anniversary, Vilniaus arsenalas Ensemble combines music of various epochs in its concerts. In collaboration with the Lithuanian Composers’ Union, it often initiates new opuses by contemporary composers. This afternoon, the audience will be offered premiere of Feliksas Bajoras’ Post scriptum for flute, viola and harpsichord (2020) and Jonas Tamulionis’ Vilnius Triptych (poems by Kazys Bradūnas, the opus composed in 2013).

This afternoon, Vilnius arsenalas shares the stage with Joana Gedmintaitė, the soloist of the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre appearing in the lead soprano roles including Donna Ana (Mozart’s Don Giovanni), Mimi (Puccini’sLa bohème), Adina (Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore), Susanna (Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro), Dalia (B. Dvarionas’ Dalia), Bruknelė (J. Tamulionis’ Bruknelė) and others. In 2004, for the role of Rachel (Halévy’s La Juive) Gedmintaitė was bestowed the Opera Soloist of the Year award; in 2014, for the role of Rosina (Rossini’s Barbiere di Siviglia) she was awarded the Golden Cross of the Stage.
