Born in Vilnius pianist Leonid Dorfman studied at the National M. K. Čiurlionis School of Art and the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre. Later he has completed postgraduate studies at the Tchaikovsky Conservatoire in Moscow. He has lived in Germany for many years but keeps returning to Lithuania on a regular basis (for nine years, until 2000, he was a stage partner of violinist Raimundas Katilius). In Germany and Austria, he continued to hone his solo piano, chamber music and song accompaniment expertise, and later studied conducting. “L. Dorfman’s interpretations are so fine-tuned that his art can only be talked about in the highest categories. The talented musician conveys the artistic and philosophical dimension of the work, but at the same time pays attention to the slightest detail. He is able to subtly grasp the composer’s idea and enrich it with his own solid performing experience”, wrote Literatūra ir menas.
The pianist dedicates this recital to his Mother, Lidiya Dorfman, a long-time teacher at the National M.K. Čiurlionis School of the Art, and Father Mikhail Dorfman.
