Unexplained occurrences, death, fear and horror phenomena have been the topic of various art forms for a long time – from the 20th-century expressionist art works to film (ex. Stephen King’s work is considered to be not only literary but also film phenomenon), theatre, opera and other medias. For this programme the musicians have chosen several popular works that are linked by spooky themes and musical expression of an unlimited imagination. On the other hand, the programme is not meant to scare the listener. According to scholarly research, by experiencing horror stories the viewers and listeners have an opportunity to relieve their own psychological stress. This almost therapeutic programme saturated with terrifying mysteries and sounds ranging from Schubert’s quartet Der Tod und das Mädchen to Angelo Badalamenti’s well-known soundtrack for David Lynch’ drama series Twin Peaks will be presented by inexhaustibly inventive Čiurlionis Quartet, actively performing harpist Joana Daunytė and actor Andrius Bialobžeskis, a regular participant of musical projects.
