The unlimited repertoire of violin and piano once again is the setting for two renowned performers: Ingrida Armonaitė, a prominent violinist, professor, whose repertoire includes not only classical and romantic music but also opuses by contemporary composers from around the world, an active promoter of Lithuanian contemporary music, the first performer and editor of many works, and Indrė Baikštytė, a pianist, associate professor and Doctor, an active performer, a recipient of the Government Culture and Art Prize as a member of FortVio. Today’s intriguing and contrasting programme offers both a premiere and time-tested opuses, such as Dancer on a Tightrope by world-renowned contemporary composer Sofia Gubaidulina. According to the composer, it invites to “break away from everyday life, fly out to liven up movement, dance and virtuosity of the ecstasy”. The musicians also program Béla Bartók’s opuses that are considered to be the paragon of the 20th century. The concert closes with Contrasts for clarinet, violin and piano, in which joined by renowned clarinettist Andrius Žiūra the two performers reveal a wide array of means of expression, colours and moods.
