Part of the CHAMBER MUSIC SERIES

As legendary violinist Yehudi Menuhin used to say, a performer has to find balance between the piece he is performing and his approach to it. The members of any chamber ensemble often experience difficulty in deciding which of the possible versions of interpretation to choose. Tchaikovsky has experienced similar dilemma when started working on his only piano trio; he was not sure whether he will be successful in combining three instruments. However, the opus dedicated to Anton Rubinstein, the composer’s friend and first performer of many of his piano works, earned wide recognition and secured its place in chamber music repertoire.

Tonight’s performers will also pay homage to Czech music.
