Musica humana Chamber Ensemble named this Sunday’s concert Musical Chess. “What does the chess have to do here?”, you will ask. Oboist Robertas Beinaris, the artistic director of the ensemble, admits that while assembling programme for this concert he felt like playing chess. There are many legends about the history of this game. One of them tells of Rajah Balhait, who lived in the Western India: he told his advisers to create a game that required a lot of qualities – mind, diligence, insight, courage and wisdom. Indeed, this description perfectly fits all talented composers whose music will be performed this afternoon. The goal of the chess game is to win. Guess, who will win this afternoon?
