Works by George Gershwin, Phillip Glass, Joseph Achron, Benny Gilin, Anatolijus Šenderovas, Viacheslav Ganelin
On the occasion of the Litvak Year, well-known Lithuanian musicians once again remind how many personalities of the world are related to Lithuania, derive their roots from here, and how many of them are still little-known or “undiscovered” composers. Litvak emigrants travelled to distant lands of great potential bringing with them the most important skills they had developed – diligence, hunger for knowledge, aspiration to learn – and becoming famous in music, art, photography, scientific inventions and other fields. This time, the chamber works of the composers related to Lithuania will be presented by the FortVio Trio, which tirelessly generates new ideas and rich concert programmes, and genuinely cherishes works of the late composer Anatolijus Šenderovas. In addition to compositions by the aforementioned composer the concert will feature jazz giant Vyacheslav Ganelin, as well as such masters as George Gershwin and Phillip Glass. The ensemble will provide a rare opportunity to hear the music of composer Benny Gilin, the brother of the outstanding cellist David Geringas, as well as music of Joseph Achron, one of the most famous Litvak composers born in Lazdijai.
