LUDWIG VAN BEETHOVEN – String quartet No. 11 in F minor, Op. 95

GIOACCHINO ROSSINI – Sonata No. 3 in C major for two violins, cello and double bass

WOLFGANG AMADEUS MOZART – Concerto for piano and string quartet No. 13 in C major, KV 415

Active for more than five decades, the Vilnius String Quartet, a recipient of the Lithuanian National Prize and the Baltic Assembly Prize among numerous other awards, shares the stage with talented young pianist Onutė Gražinytė. The programme features Rossini’s youthful and exuberant ensemble with double bass also known as Sonata a quattro, Beethoven’s String quartet No. 11, Op. 95 (Serioso), his most compact and dramatic string quartet (assumedly, it has reference to the composer’s biographical facts), and Mozart’s Concerto for piano and string quartet No. 13 in C major, an example of pianistic possibilities and ideas of the genius.

The seasoned Quartet collaborates with Onutė Gražinytė, a winner of numerous international competitions, graduate of the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media where currently she shares her expertise with students as pedagogue. She regularly appears as a soloist with symphony orchestras (the National M.K. Čiurlionis School of Art Orchestra, Klaipėda Chamber Orchestra, Kaunas Symphony Orchestra, the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra, Alicante University Philharmonic Orchestra, Salzburg Mozarteum Orchestra, the Orchestre National de Lyon, etc.) and is also active as a chamber musician. Last year, after interviewing and listening to her recordings the Buxtehude Summer Festival art committee selected the Lithuanian pianist to be a recipient of Haiou Zhang (renowned Chinese musician) Prize.
