“It is a musical adventure, a musical entertainment. Milky Way is a post scriptum to Mozart and classical era”, says composer and cellist Arvydas Malcys about his Milky Way for string orchestra (2004).
Rubackytė’s friend Pierre Thilloy got fascinated with Lithuanian folksongs, sutarinės and the succession myth of Eglė – žalčių karalienė (Eglė, the Queen of Serpents), the most popular Lithuanian folktale. Five years ago the Lithuanian audience heard Thilloy’s oratorio Eglė – žalčių karalienė for choir and orchestra. Tonight it will be presented as a string orchestra version. The composer dedicated the new opus to Rubackytė, the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra and Lithuania.
On March 8th the ambassadors of Lithuanian Music will take this program to Gaveau Hall in Paris.
