For the seasons’ final concert the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, violinist Džeraldas Bidva and violist Hartmud Rohde offer works by Mozart and two contemporary Lithuanian composers Arvydas Malcys and Artūras Mikoliūnas.

Bidva, the concertmaster of the Kremerata Baltica and the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, regularly appears as a soloist and chamber musician, takes part in Salzburg and Lockenhaus (Austria), Gstadt and Les muséiques in Basel (Switzerland), Risør (Norway) and Kronberg (Germany) festivals. He has been part of numerous impressible programs and projects with Gidon Kremer, collaborated with renowned performers and conductors, including Gustavo Dudamel, Christoph Eschenbach, Simon Rattle, Martha Argerich, Mario Brunello, Sergej Krylov, etc. Bidva’s master classes Ars SummerFest draw many young violinists to Lithuania, while Mažeikiai Art Festival, in which he serves as the artistic director, is admired for high artistic standards and the roster of internationally acclaimed musicians.

Rohde is one of the leading violists in Europe. Professor at the Berlin University and the Royal Academy of Music in London, he is a co-founder of the Kandinsky-Streichtrio and Mozart Piano Quartet. As a soloist and member of both ensembles he has performed around the world. Rohde has appeared in Salzburg, Berlin, Pablo Casals, Rheingau, Wratislavia Cantans and other festivals, collaborated with Beijing National Orchestra, Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra and the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, etc. The violist has recorded for EMI, Decca, Arte Nova and Daringhaus&Grimm labels. His discography has earned numerous awards.

Conductor Vilmantas Kaliūnas, who has recently frequented Lithuanian scene, studied oboe and conducting in Lithuania and Germany. Today a conductor of Kaunas City Symphony Orchestra, he has in the past served as the Music Director of the Saarlouis (Germany) Symphony Orchestra, worked with such orchestras as Berliner Sinfonietta, Saarbrucken’s Collegium Instrumentale, Thüringen Philharmonie Gotha, Jenaer Philharmonie, Bulgarian Pazardjik Symphony Orchestra, etc. He has led the performances of young soloists and winners of the ARD Competition.
