“I am here thanks to you!” says Vytautas Juozapaitis and invites the audience to the anniversary concert
On December 14th, the listeners at the Grand Hall of the Philharmonic will have a chance to hear the first Lithuanian performance of the second act from the opera Tristan and Isolde. It will be performed by Nomeda Kazlauskaitė-Kazlaus and a team of internationally acclaimed talents. This special concert is dedicated to the 200th birth anniversary of composer Richard Wagner and it also marks the ending of Lithuania’s presidency of the Council of the European Union. Patron of the concert – Prime minister of the Republic of Lithuania Algirdas Butkevičius.
On December 7th, the National Philharmonic Society presents a concert marking the centenary of Jascha Heifetz’s debut performance at the Philharmonic Hall. The concert programme features works by Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov and Alexander Scriabin to be performed by the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra under Maestro Juozas Domarkas, while the violin solo will be played by the Lithuanian violinist Justina Auškelytė – currently studying at the prestigious Juilliard School in New York.
This Wednesday, a special event will take place at the Philharmonic – a concert dedicated to the 45th anniversary of the Čiurlionis Quartet, one of the most respectable artistic collectives in Lithuania. According to Saulius Lipčius, long-term artistic director of the Quartet, an exceptional programme has been prepared for the concert, featuring the opuses of the greatest composers to reflect the ultimate achievements of the Čiurlionis Quartet.
