Programme
The Same and Yet Different

Clément Janequin, Maurice Ravel, Francis Poulenc, Bronius Kutavičius, Pierre Calmelet

Having celebrated its 25th anniversary last year, youthful and genuinely admired by the audiences Aidija choir, led by Romualdas Gražinis, keeps on with new concert programmes featuring Lithuanian and foreign music. The choir’s extensive repertoire ranges from Gregorian chant to the 21st century compositions including stylistically diverse choral miniatures, works for choir a cappella and choir with instruments, ensembles and orchestras. With a special focus on the promulgation of contemporary Lithuanian music in more than 30 annual concerts Aidija is greatly contributing to the Lithuanian music culture. The choir appears in major festivals in Lithuania including Vilnius Festival, Kražiai Festival, Pažaislis Festival, Banchetto musicale early music festival as well as contemporary music festivals Gaida and Jauna muzika. Especially noteworthy is choir’s involvement in Thomas Mann Festival in Nida and illuminating concert-lecture series organised in the Church Heritage Museum in Vilnius on the initiative of the collective. Under the domes of Trakai Castle Aidija will remain faithful to its traditional repertoire and present vocal opuses of French renaissance and impressionism as well as works by Lithuanian composers.
