Čiurlionis Quartet and soprano Ona Kolobovaitė welcome the After Easter Sunday in Trakai Castle Great Hall with joyous programme. The famous musicians have nurtured their artistic friendship for several years. Having disappeared from TV screen the soprano is eagerly awaited throughout Lithuania. After winning the LRT project Arch of Triumph (2009) and earning accolades on concert scene, Kolobovaitė was invited to appear in Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre, Lithuanian National Philharmonic Hall, Klaipėda Musical Theatre among other major stages in Lithuania. On a chamber music scene she has collaborated with Čiurlionis Quartet and Vilnius String Quartet, Vilniaus arsenalas Ensemble, Klaipėda Chamber Orchestra, recorded CDs, and participated in charity projects. Recently, together with pianist Justas Šervenikas she has presented a new programme Song Bridge Lithuania: Lithuania–Germany met with great acclaim in Klaipėda. This afternoon the musicians offer a garland of favourite Lithuanian songs and classic opera arias. Čiurlionis Quartet will enrich the programme with the opening movement from Mozart’s Eine kleine Nachtmusic (A Little Night Music), J. Strauss’ Künstlerleben (Artist’s Life) and a string arrangement of Pożegnanie Ojczyzny (Farewell to the Homeland) by Michał Kleofas Ogiński, a politician, diplomat and composer whose 250th birth anniversary is celebrated throughout Lithuania this year. The concert programme also presents Kaimo smuikininkas (Village Fiddler), a new work by Algirdas Klova.
