Part of the MUSIC IN TRAKAI CASTLE series

“When a human being dances, his soul returns back many centuries to the very morning of the world when the greatness of the soul was freely projected in the beauty of the body, when the rhythm of the movement and that of the sound were in unison. When the movements of a human body were similar to those of wind and sea, when a woman’s gesture bore semblance to the opening of a rosebud, and her foot touching the ground to that of softly falling leaf on the soil…” said Isadora Duncan, the celebrated dancer, about the poetry of the dance. Fascination with the 15th-century culture and dance prompted the formation of the early dance company Festa Cortese. Its authentic and original staged programmes are based on historic and iconographic sources as well as authentic dance treatises. This time the performers found inspiration in the letters of Lithuanian Grand Duke Gediminas (the 14th century), which will be read during the concert by Vytautas Rumšas Senoir.
