Baroque, an ornate and intricate music style, was order of the day in Europe in the 17th-18th c. The word baroque refers to “curved”, “strange” or “unusual”, while Portuguese used it to describe “irregular pearl”. In modern usage the term baroque can also mean “refined”, “bombastic”, “opulent”… Soprano Nora Petročenko, violinist Džeraldas Bidva and PROJEKTAS A String Quartet approach this style in a cheerful and witty way and name it…”dishevelled”! This programme features works by baroque’s leading composers from England, Italy and Germany – Händel, Pachelbel, Vivaldi, Bach, Giordani and Purcell.
