Solely Mozart

Students of LAMT Vocal Department:
String Quartet ADORA:

Programme: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart – arias, duets and quartets from operas; String quartet in B flat major The Hunt, K458

For more than 300 hundred years grace, natural flow and expressive dramaturgy of Mozart’s (1756–1791) music has enchanted music lovers, as did its genuine and masterful projection of both joy and sadness. This genial composer has especially contributed to the development of opera art; his masterpieces are opera theatre fixtures around the world to this day.

Young performers will present Mozart’s perpetually youthful and vivacious music. Vocal students of associate Prof. Asta Krikščiūnaitė, Prof. Vladimiras Prudnikovas’ assistant Giedrius Žalys and Liudas Norvaišas at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre offer an intriguing programme embracing fragments from Mozart’s operas (arias, duets and quartets) and his String quartet in B flat major, The Hunt, K458. The quartet as well as orchestral part to the opera fragments (arranged for string quartet) will be performed by String Quartet Adora.

This staged programme includes arias and ensembles from Mozart’s popular operas – Le nozze di Figaro (Susanna’s aria Deh vieni non tardar, duettino Sull’aria...che soave zeffiretto, ensemble Contessa, perdono!), Die Zauberflöte (Papageno and Pamina’s duet Bei Männern, welche Liebe fühlen), Don Giovanni (Zerlina’s aria Vedrai, carino, duet Eh Via Buffone, Don Giovanni’s aria Deh, vieni, alla finestra, Zerlina and Don Giovanni’s duet Là ci darem la mano). The students have built a witty scenario about human feelings, love and jealousy.

Formed in 2012, the String Quartet Adora study under Prof. Augustinas Vasiliauskas at the LAMT. The Quartet members – violinists Simas Tankevičius and Aistė Birvydaitė, violist Jurgis Juozapaitis and cellist Ignė Pikalavičiūtė – are the winners of various national and international competitions, regularly performing as soloists as well as in diverse chamber ensembles and orchestras.

In 2013, Adora became the prize winner of the 1st Arvids Noritis Baltic States String Quartet Festival-Competition. The same year it was a guest-participant at the European Chamber Music Academy in Vilnius, took part in master classes led by renowned chamber music Professors – J. Meissl (Austria), P. Prause (Czech Republic), M. Da Silva (France). In 2014, the Lithuanian Ministry of Culture awarded the Quartet the Young Music Performer’s Prize.
