Programme: Lithuanian folk songs, tales and jazz improvisations

“It is important, that our children hear our folk songs since the first days. The more the melody grows into your heart, the more it allows you to develop and discover it. It is a wonderful thing, you just need to understand it”, says Veronika Povilionienė whose name to many of us is synonymous with our folk songs. “I don’t force you to love song, but one needs to know at least something concerning that. How can you expect one to love when one knows nothing?”  And if this ancient song submerges into everyday music flow; its meandering melody inspires classical and jazz improvisers?  Veronika Povilionienė, saxophonist Petras Vyšniauskas and Čiurlionis Quartet (all are the recipients of the Lithuanian National Prize) will team up and charm the audience with their vocal and instrumental improvisations.
