This year J. S. Bach Music Festival offers six programmes presented in various concert venues the Museum of Applied Art and Design being one of them. The concert programmes feature works by J. S. Bach and his sons as well as Vivaldi, Händel, Purcell and other composers. The fifth programme Dolefulness and Felicity of Human Soul in J. S. Bach’s Cantatas focuses on an important realm of the composer’s creative output. Bach wrote about 250 cantatas both sacred and secular. Major part of his life he served as an organist and cantor in various churches. And for every solemn occasion he had to compose a new cantata, oratorio or choral…
