Well-known Lithuanian musicians violinist Ingrida Armonaitė, cellist Rimantas Armonas and pianist Irena Uss have formed the Trio in 1988. Regularly performing in Lithuania and abroad they appear both as soloists and trio. They are Professors at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre. “Armonai Trio fascinates with subtle instrumental timbres and masterful musical lace of voices, perfection and vibrant beauty of music, as well as ideal concord” Daiva Tamošaitytė described the trio.

In addition to traditional classical and romanticist repertoire the trio pays particular attention to contemporary music. The performers’ outstanding technique, stylistic refinement and creativity encourage Lithuanian composers to write for this ensemble. This afternoon Armonai Trio presents two premieres: Algirdas Martinaitis’ Patmos-Trio and Žibuoklė Martinaitytė’s When the Blue Hour (both written for Armonai Trio). The programme also includes Georges Enescu Sérénade lointaine, composed in 1903 and dedicated to the Romanian Royal Family as well as Arnold Schönberg’s Verklärte Nacht. The latter opus was inspired by German poet Richard Dehmel’s poem from collection of poems Mann und Frau.
