Works by Ludwig van Beethoven, Edward Elgar, Eric Whitacre, Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis, Bronius Kutavičius, Stasys Šimkus, Kristina Vasiliauskaitė, Vaclovas Augustinas, Romualdas Gražinis

Majority of renowned Lithuanian performers and conductors are graduates of the National M. K. Čiurlionis School of Art. Tonight quite a few of them gathered together to celebrate the 70th anniversary of one of the school’s spinal collectives – the pupils’ choir, which for many of them has been the stepping-stone to the world’s main concert stages.  In 1948, the school opened the door as a secondary education institution with choral department for future choir directors and singers. Today the school’s three pupils’ choirs proudly represent Lithuanian choral music in Lithuania and abroad, appear in various festivals, premiere many a new composition. The champions of Lithuanian choral music the school’s choirs will offer works by Lithuanian composers, while the school’s symphony orchestra and acclaimed pianist Andrius Žlabys, flying in from New York to take part in this festive concert at his first Alma mater, will perform opuses by Mozart and Beethoven.
