One of the greatest todays cellist and the winner of the International Tchaikovsky cello competition in Moscow (2015) Andrei Ioniţă will perform in Lithuanian concert halls in the upcoming April. He will appear – on the 24th of April at Klaipėda Concert Hall, on the 25th – at Kaunas Philharmonic and on the 26th at Lithuanian National Philharmonic Hall in Vilnius. Cellist will perform together with Lithuanian pianist Kasparas Uinskas.

In the past few years, Andrei Ioniţă has been heard in such venues as the Carnegie Hall, the Cadogan Hall in London, the Chamber Music Hall of the Berliner Philharmonie, or the Gasteig and Herkulesaal in Munich. In 2015, he gave his debut in the Berlin Philharmonic as soloist with the Deutschen Symphonieorchester.

Andrei Ioniţă’s 2016/17 season will feature major debuts with the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, the MDR Orchester and the Munich Philharmonic. He will also will appear in Helsinki, Japan, the Laeiszhalle Hamburg and in Lucerne with a duo program for cello and piano. In addition, he is regularly by Maestro Valery Gergiev and was invited by Mitsuko Utchida to be part of the Marlboro Music Festival in July 2017.

He has been chosen as a BBC New Generation Artist from 2016 to 2018. Ionita is one of six musicians who will be offered opportunities to work with the BBC orchestras, perform in BBC Radio 3's prestigious Monday Lunchtime Concert series from Wigmore Hall, commission new works and undertake studio recordings.

Cellist Andrei Ioniţă, born in 1994 in Bucharest, began taking piano lessons at the age of five and received his first cello lesson three years later. He studied under Ani-Marie Paladi at the Music School “Iosif Sava“ in Bucharest and is currently studying under Professor Jens Peter Maintz at the Universität der Künste Berlin.

Andrei Ioniţă performs on a violoncello made by Giovanni Battista Rogeri from Brescia in 1671.

Kasparas Uinskas is an internationally acclaimed pianist, praised by critics for his virtuosity and romantic style. Mr. Uinskas is performing at most important world concert halls - New York's Carnegie Hall, Berlin Philharmonie, London Wigmore Hall, Madrid Auditorio Nacional, J. F. Kennedy Center in Washington, DC among others.

His recent performances include his concerts with Royal Chamber Orchestra of Wallonia (Belgium), Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra, North Czech Philharmonic Orchestra (Czech Republic), Philharmonie Südwestfalen (Germany), Liepaja Symphony Orchestra at Piano Stars Festival (Latvia), Krakow Philharmonic Orchestra (Poland), as well as solo recitals at London Wigmore Hall, Baerum Kulturhus at Piano Master Series (Norway), BoZar concert hall in Brussels, Brussels piano festival, Festival Nordland Musikkfestuke in Bodø (Norway), at Fantastic Pianist Series tour in Japan and chamber recital tour in Norway and Lithuania together with International Tchaikovsky Competition laureate, violinist Nikita Boriso-Glebsky, piano duo concert tour with pianist Evgeni Bozhanov and chamber concert tour with cello legend Alexander Kniazev.
