In April 2007, the Lithuanian audience had the opportunity to enjoy Barry Douglas’ collaboration with the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra. The gold medallist of the P. Tchaikovsky Competition (1986) this time will appear with the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra as a conductor and soloist. The recipient of the Order of the British Empire is recognised around the world. He has performed with the world’s leading orchestras and conductors; his recordings have earned prestigious awards. His chamber music partners have included violinist Cho-Liang Lin, cellist Lynn Harrell and the Guarneri String Quartet. Inspired by the abundance of musical talent in Ireland, Douglas established Camerata Ireland chamber orchestra. The orchestra has toured Europe, North and South Americas, performed for the president Bill Clinton in Belfast, and appeared at London City Festival. Among his most noteworthy achievements is the performance of the complete Beethoven Symphonies with the St. Cecilia Orchestra at the Dublin National Concert Hall.
