Part of the CHAMBER MUSIC SERIES

Last spring Laima Jonutytė was nominated for the Golden Stage Cross awards for the season’s best roles in opera as Suzuki in Madama Butterfly and Fricka in Die Walküre. Since 1991, she has appeared in about thirty roles on the stage of the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre.

“The velvety voice of the rarest beauty, musicianship, graceful stage presence and artistic character – those are the qualities that lend nonpareil individuality to each of Jonutytė’s roles. That evening, however, the soloist revealed yet another side of her talent: she appeared as a superb chamber musician, showing her sensibility to the subtleties of the genre. Indeed, she is not a novice in the genre. Her repertoire includes a number of chamber music programmes, with which she has toured quite a few corners of the world.”
