From the Musical Legacy of Lithuania’s Jews
2017 December 10, Sunday, 16.00
Museum of Applied Art and Design, Vilnius

Works by Anatolijus Šenderovas, Aaron Copland, Joseph Achron, George Gershwin, Benny Goodman, Jascha Heifetz, Leopold Godowsky

Designed by four young and already well-known Lithuanian musicians – Dalia Dėdinskaitė (violin), Gleb Pyšniak (cello), Robertas Lozinskis (piano) and Marius Šinkūnas (vibraphone) – programme Aerograma will revive the treasures of musical legacy of Litvaks (the Jews of Lithuania). According to the performers, “for more than 600 years Litvaks were greatly contributing to the development of Lithuania and its neighbours until the Holocaust tragedy shattered or forced the hideaway of almost 95 % of their active community. Despite of that, the descendants of Litvaks are spread around the globe to this day. There were many articles written and speeches delivered about their legacy, but the best way for music to remain alive is its live performance. This way it reaches the hearts and minds of the listeners.”

In this programme the performers endeavour to meaningfully and genuinely bridge the past and the present. The musicians will also present their CD featuring chamber works for violin, cello, piano and vibraphone by Litvak or other Jewish composers associated with Lithuania.
