In the beginning of August, the festival Night Serenades will return, for the 47th time, to Palanga, one of the most beautiful seaside resorts on the Baltic coast. Admired for its special atmosphere this concert series has become a prominent gathering place for classical musicians and music lovers. Led by Sergej Krylov the festival’s resident Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra is one of the most ingenious Lithuanian orchestras that boast rich experience and recognition in the West. In the Night Serenades’opening concert the LCO shares the stage with Lina Dambrauskaitė, a Lithuanian vocalist of younger generation who currently hones her skills at the Opera Studio of the prestigious Royal Academy of Music in London. Vilmantas Kaliūnas, a Lithuanian Maestro residing in Germany, will grace the podium. He has studied conducting with Prof. Nicolas Pasquet at the University of Music in Weimar dubbed the smithy of eminent conductors. Since 2014, Kaliūnas has served as Maestro Karl-Marek Chichon’s regular assistant. Night Serenades will open with Mozart’s Eine kleine Nachtmusik, the hallmark of the festival. The concert programme will also feature Mozart’s vocal masterpieces and excerpts from Händel’s oratorios.
