Remigijus Rančys’ compositions inspired by his journey in Asia

Remigijus Rančys is a jazzman playing saxophones, keyboards and flute. He is also a composer and arranger. The music of this versatile musician stems from jazz tradition. But he is also interested in world music and various ethnic tributaries – Balkan, Gypsy, Brazilian and African music. Active musician and composer Rančys is an initiator and participant of many a project. “I like colourful programmes in which every composition sounds differently”, admits Rančys. Many of his compositions were inspired by his life experiences. According to the composer, his musical ideas can come about after reading of a book, seeing a good movie, travelling to an exotic country or meeting an old monk in the jungle. He seeks to project a visual element in his music. The musician is fascinated with minimalism not only in life but also in his music: ”I see music and architecture as very close medias, thus for each composition I look for a simple form and structure. The most important is a good and economical construction and constant movement – quite similar to what we find in nature. Music is a perfect vehicle for feeling and contemplating things, which are not possible to describe in words. I want the listener to discover new vistas and widen the horizons of his/her perception in my concerts.”

Indeed, this programme, inspired by his trip to Asia and embracing compositions of various styles, moods and colours, will be one of that kind. The musician will share the stage with talented colleagues, which accompanied him many times in various festivals.
