ARVO PÄRT – Fratres
FRANTZ SCHUBERT – Fantasie in C major, Op. 159 (posth. 159)

“Musicians’ pinnacles are akin to horizon: it keeps receding from you regardless of how close you get to it…” These words belong to Raimundas Katilius, an illustrious Lithuanian violinist, pedagogue and recipient of the Lithuanian National Prize, who devoted his entire life to these pinnacles and reached them! On March 18th, his disciple violinist Rasa Vosyliūtė and pianist Leonid Dorfman (residing in Germany), with whom Katilius gave his last concert, present homage to the Professor. These relations, associations, meanings, composers and their works are encoded in the title of the concert: Fratres in musicae Brothers in Music.

Winner of H. Eller Violin Competition in Tallinn, Vosyliūtė has performed with Lithuanian and Estonian symphony orchestras, the Lithuanian, St Christopher, Klaipėda, Tallinn and Rheinland Pfalz Youth (Germany) as well as the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre chamber orchestras; gave recitals in London, Brussels, Washington D.C., Paris and in various concert venues in Vilnius.

Dorfman takes part in important classical music events in Germany such as Kissingen Sommer in Bad Kissingen, Mendelssohn-Tage in Koblenz, Schleswig-Holstein festival. He has played recitals in Alte Oper in Frankfurt am Main, Hamburger Musikhalle and Schloss Elmau festival. The pianist appeared with Budapest, Plovdiv, Minsk and Frankfurt symphony orchestras as well as Sopot, Kaunas and Klaipėda chamber orchestras.
