On Monday, the special commission of the Ministry of Culture has announced the laureates of the 2012 Lithuanian National Culture and Art Awards

Sculptor Vladas Vildžiūnas was awarded the 2012 National Culture and Art Prize for his lifetime artistic achievements, implementation of modern national culture vision and promotion of the free spirit culture.

Literary scholar and critic Kęstutis Nastopka was awarded the 2012 National Culture and Art Prize for the development of internationally recognised Lithuanian semiotics and the art of literary perception.


Stage designer Vitalijus Mazūras was awarded the 2012 National Culture and Art Prize for turning the art of the puppet theatre into a Lithuanian culture phenomenon and creative connections with the Lithuanian ethnic worldview.


Architect Eugenijus Miliūnas was awarded the 2012 National Culture and Art Prize for the conceptual perception of architectural spaces and creation of contemporary constructions of significance to the society.


Creator of visual arts Žilvinas Kempinas was awarded the 2012 National Culture and Art Prize for the suggestive minimalist language of modern art and its international significance.


Conductor Modestas Pitrėnas was awarded the 2012 National Culture and Art Prize for the creative flourish in interpreting classical and contemporary music and the dissemination of Lithuanian music culture.
