8.2.2010 Maestro Juozas Domarkas to guest appear with the Bruckner Orchester Linz
An important guest appearance in Linz, Austria, awaits Prof. Juozas Domarkas, the artistic director and principal conductor of the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra. On February 10th he will conduct the Bruckner Orchester Linz at the Great Hall of the Brucknerhaus.
Maestro Juozas Domarkas will present his interpretations of two symphonic poems The Sea and In the Forest by the forefather of Lithuanian national art and music, Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis, and Ravel’s orchestrated version of Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition.
The concert will be accompanied by an exhibition of paintings (reproductions) by Čiurlionis and Viktor Hartmann (the posthumous exhibition of this famous Russian architect and painter inspired his close friend Mussorgsky to write a suite called Pictures at an Exhibition).
This concert was organised as a continuation of the cultural exchange between the two European Capitals of Culture 2009 – Vilnius and Linz.
