Extravagant recitals and poetic orchestral music concerts at Vilnius Festival 2010
The Vilnius Festival 2010 will take place at the National Philharmonic Hall from 28 May to 6 June. It promises a concentrated and intense programme to be presented in ten days. Janine Jansen and Maxim Rysanov to shine in Vilnius
The Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra concert that will take place on 28 April, 7 pm, is likely to become the key event of the 2009/2010 concert season at the National Philharmonic Hall. The stage will be shared by violinist Janine Jansen, recently dubbed ‘the queen of the downloads’ after a massive increase in the number of her records downloaded from iTunes, and violist Maxim Rysanov, named ‘Young Artist of the Year’ by major classical music magazine Gramophone a couple of years ago. At a concert in Vilnius, these elite string players will perform works by Schubert, Mozart and Bulgarian-born composer Dobrinka Tabakova, whose music famous American composer John Adams described as “extremely original and rare music.” MoreMore

Finely chiselled classics
This Wednesday, two musical stars will cross at the concert of the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra: an established conductor, Ronald Zollman, who, according to the critics, shapes the musical material with the skill of an Antique sculptor, and a rising star – violinist Anna Tifu, who will perform Mozart’s Third Violin Concerto, playing the violin crafted by 18th-century master Carlo Bergonzi. On April 14th, at 7pm, conducting the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra in its 50th anniversary series, Ronald Zollman with also present his interpretations of the scores by Joseph Haydn and Igor Stravinsky.
