Over the past decade, the Lithuanian composer Onutė Narbutaitė started conquering the international audiences and winning both critical and public acclaim for her large-scale symphonic works. One such work, Tres Dei Matris Symphoniae, commissioned by the Musikfesttage an der Oder and premiered in 2004 in Frankfurt, became a true point of attraction, as did its repeat performance in Cracow two years later. This cycle of three symphonies had its Lithuanian premiere at the Gaida Festival 2004 and will return to the National Philharmonic Hall as part of the Vilnius Festival 2008 on June 14th, celebrated nationwide as the Day of Mourning and Hope.
