Even though the focus of this concert season at the Lithuanian National Philharmonic Society is placed on Lithuanian music, the upcoming Saturday symphony music concert will present an excursion to France. On February 6th, the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra (LNSO) under Maestro Olivier Grangean from France is going to perform a programme titled Pages of French Music, featuring works by Paul Dukas, Maurice Ravel and Georges Bizet. Piano solo will be performed by Korean pianist Yeol Eum Son.
Maestro Juozas Domarkas, an honorary conductor of the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra (LNSO) invites the listeners to preserve a fine tradition of performing and listening to musical masterpieces that have stood the test of time. On January 30th, Saturday, a symphony music programme From Treasury of the Orchestra will be performed at the Lithuanian National Philharmonic Society, featuring solo appearance of Lithuanian cellist Vytautas Sondeckis. Currently residing in Germany, this musician is a member of the NDR Symphony Orchestra.
We all know the famous poem Faust by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, but the story to be presented this Saturday at the National Philharmonic is different. The weekend concert presents a monumental Faust Cantata by Alfred Schnittke. A number of musicians are joining forces for the occasion, including Lithuanian opera soloists Mindaugas Zimkus and Tadas Girininkas, a well-known singer of Lithuanian popular music and jazz Evelina Sašenko, a countertenor of extraordinary voice Russell Harcourt (United Kingdom), the Kaunas State Choir and the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Robertas Šervenikas.
