Badge of Honour “Carry your Light and Believe” of the Ministry of Culture of Lithuania Awarded to Professor Algirdas Vizgirda
On October 15th, a badge of honour “Carry your Light and Believe” of the Ministry of Culture of Lithuania was awarded to flute player Algirdas Vizgirda – a laureate of the Lithuanian National Culture Prize, one of the founders and present artistic director and conductor of the Musica Humana Chamber Ensemble and a Professor at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre. Maestro was awarded with this highest award of the Ministry of Culture for the ideas and initiatives contributed to Lithuanian culture and for a personal stance and responsibility in building a cultural and spiritual environment.
Wishing to thank for the 40 years of successful creative activity, on October 15th, Wednesday, a musical offering will be presented by the chamber music ensemble Musica Humana, led by its artistic director Algirdas Vizgirda and Šiauliai State Choir Polifonija, headed by Tomas Ambrozaitis.
A vigorous quartet of young performers Mettis is a new star in the Lithuanian music skies. According to Simone Gramaglia, a lecturer at the International Summer Academy Austria and a member of Cremona Quartet (Italy) – the Mettis ensemble asserts Lithuania’s reputation of a country with high string quartet culture. This summer the Mettis String Quartet was admitted to the elite European Chamber Music Academy (ECMA) and the Lithuanian listeners will have a chance to hear the Quartet’s performance this Sunday.
