Sergio Tiempo, the main soloist of tonight’s programme, appeared on the Argentine television of the age of four and at the age eight was honoured with a special prize as the most talented participant of the Ealing Music Festival in London. His celebrated compatriot Martha Argerich, who is one of his staunchest supporters, prompted his early international recognition. After his debut at age fourteen on the “Great Pianists” series in the Amsterdam Concertgebouw critics and fellow musicians heralded him as one of the outstanding pianists of his generation. S. Tiempo has appeared in major concert halls in the USA, and in Europe has performed in such prestigious venues as Berlin’s “Philharmonie”, the “Alte Oper” in Frankfurt, Salle Pleyel and Gaveau in Paris, the Verdi Conservatory in Milan, and the Liszt Academy in Budapest. The pianist has played, among others, with the Chicago, Cleveland, Los Angeles, Montreal and Tokyo symphony orchestras.
