Formed almost 20 years ago, the Brussels Jazz Orchestra is among the leading representatives of the genre on the European jazz scene. In 2004, the Orchestra was elected eighth in the 52nd Critics Poll of the authoritative American jazz magazine Down Beat. By building on fundamental dialectic, i.e. an interaction between collective statements (orchestral episodes) and individual solo commentaries (improvisations), the Brussels Jazz Orchestra composes original music, creates unique arrangements and improvises, with the passion for spontaneous invention.
