Part of the VILNIUS FESTIVAL 2009

Established in 1904, the London Symphony Orchestra (LSO) has for many years been rated among the world’s ten best orchestras for its exemplary interpretations and sterling symphonic sound. From its first days the Orchestra was defiantly different and proudly pioneering, having evolved and adapted to a constantly changing world for over 100 years. It was one of the first orchestras to make gramophone records and film scores. Recordings now take the Orchestra to a global audience; and you can hear the LSO on radio, TV, in the movies, on computer games, on planes, in elevators and just about anywhere where music is enjoyed. The LSO can be also heard on soundtracks for Star Wars, Harry Potter, Superman and The Simpsons, or The Beatles’, Michael Jackson’s and Elton John’s recordings. The Orchestra will appear in Vilnius under its current Principal Conductor, Valery Gergiev, who is known worldwide for his turbulent personality.

A limited allocation of tickets is still available at the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre Ticketing Office(A. Vienuolio g. 1).
