The Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra was established on the initiative of Leonard Bernstein. He created an Orchestral Academy, a training centre for young orchestra musicians on all-highest level, where newly in every year an international youth orchestra is formed. To mark the 90th birth anniversary of the great conductor and composer, the orchestra will perform his West Side Story Symphonic Dances under the baton of its principal conductor, Christoph Eschenbach.
