Part of the CHRISTMAS MUSIC WEEK

This year the traditional appearance of Vilhelmas Čepinskis’ ensemble will be dedicated to the anniversary of Eugène Ysaÿe. Great virtuoso and composer (1858 – 1931) was a celebrated Belgian violinist, known for his tempestuous temperament and exceptionally beautiful and powerful tone. After his triumphant appearances in Paris, Ysaÿe got acquainted with French composers Franck, Chausson, Debussy and became an advocate of their music. Having become Professor of the Brussels Conservatoire, he founded the celebrated Ysaÿe String Quartet, organised and conducted Ysaÿe Concert series.
