The 2nd Vilnius Piano Music Festival presents the charismatic Lukas Geniušas. The descendent of the prominent musical family jokes that he did not have freedom to choose his profession: already in the childhood he was surrounded by musicians… ”Now I do not imagine different life. I was ushered to the piano when I was five and am very grateful to those who made it.” The twenty-one-year-old pianist is a winner of ten international piano competitions including Gina Bachauer in Salt Lake City (first prize and gold medal, 2010) and Chopin in Warsaw (second prize and silver medal, 2010). In his recital Three Periods of Life L. Geniušas will perform all sonatas by Chopin: early Sonata Op. 4 No 1 in C minor, 1839; Sonata Op. 35 No 2 in B flat M minor (its third movement, Funeral March, was composed earlier) and Sonata Op. 58 No 3 in B minor (1844).
