Prelude to 2nd Vilnius Piano Music Festival

Dedicated to the bicentenary of Franz Liszt’s birth and the centenary of Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis’s death

Performers:

IRINA DOLZHENKO (mezzo-soprano, Russia)

INNA DAVIDOVA (piano, Latvia)

Programme:

Songs by Franz Liszt, Romances by Sergej Rachmaninov

During the 2nd Vilnius Piano Music Festival the Lithuanian National Philharmonic Hall will be flooded with the music of the legendary 19th-century virtuoso Franz Liszt. Autumn approaching, the listeners are invited to the event’s preludium waived from the subtle interplays of the voice and piano, spoken word and musical sound – the evening of Liszt’s songs and Rachmaninov’s romances. The concert features Irina Dolzhenko (mezzo-soprano), the soloist of the Bolshoi Theatre, who is praised by critics for exceptionally mellifluous and velvety voice, which enraptures the audiences with its unusual beauty and richness. Nevertheless, at first everyone admires the singer’s luxurious timbre and natural ability to penetrate into the core of music and only then praises her professional skills. The vocalist will be joined by pianist Inna Davidova – a sensitive and delicate partner of a number of vocalists among them Lithuanian soloist Jolanta Stanelytė, with whom she has earned the prize at the Tokyo International Vocal Music Competition.
