Part of the RECITAL SERIES
“A highly gifted pianist and musician," Daniel Barenboim, one of the most renowned musicians of our time, remarked on Gabrielius Alekna. A winner of fourteen competitions, Alekna was the first Lithuanian to get accepted to New York’s Julliard School on a full scholarship. In 2006, he became the first Lithuanian to earn a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the Juilliard School. Having settled in New York, the pianist regularly returns to Lithuania bringing memorable recitals, chamber music concerts and appearances with orchestras. This time Alekna invites to a sophisticated piano recital combining philosophical sonorities of Beethoven’s last Sonata with impressionistic palette of Debussy’s Etudes and Bartók’s innovative musical ideas.
