Part of the RECITAL SERIES
Born in Vilnius, Leonidas Dorfmanas graduated from the M.K.Čiurlionis School of Arts, the Lithuanian Academy of Music, and P.Tchaikovsky Conservatoire in Moscow. In 1990, he settled in Frankfurt am Main, but he has often visited Lithuania (for nine years, up until 2000, he was a stage partner of violinist Raimundas Katilius). Having furthered his solo, chamber music and vocal accompanying specialisations in Germany and Austria, he started studying conducting as well. “L.Dorfmanas has reached such a level that his art can be described only in superlatives. Talented musician projects the work’s artistic and philosophical parameters, but at the same time does not sacrifice the minutest detail. He delicately reveals the idea of the composer and enriches it with his professional experience”, wrote Literatūra ir menas after the pianist and violist Ilan Schneider’s concert at the Tytuvėnai Summer Festival.
