Antoni Wit, a prominent Polish conductor of our times, will grace the podium in this romantic programme. He commenced his career in 1971 after winning second prize at the prestigious Herbert von Karajan International Conducting Competition in Berlin. He performed in music centres of Europe, North and South Americas, Middle and Far East conducting orchestras such as Berlin, Strasbourg and Tokyo Philharmonics, Staatskapelle Dresden, Tonhalle Zürich, Royal Philharmonic, London BBC, Montreal, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande to name but a few. His discography amounts to over 100 CDs recorded for EMI-HMV, CBS, Naxos, NVS Arts, Pony Canyon and Polskie Nagrania among other labels. His recordings earned a number of international awards, were nominated for Grammy. The Executive Board of Polish Radio awarded A. Wit with “Diamond Baton”.

After graduating from the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre in 2000, pianist Evelina Puzaitė was awarded the prestigious Baltic State Scholarship to study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. Winner of The Abstract Securities Landor Competition in 2006, she was the only one from several hundred participants to receive a long-term contract with Landor Records. She is a regular performer at such prestigious concert venues as the Wigmore Hall, Barbican, and the Southbank Centre. E. Puzaitė is a recipient of numerous awards, including the Philharmonia Orchestra/ Martin Musical Scholarship Fund Award, which led to her recital debut at the Royal Festival Hall. The pianist has performed extensively throughout Europe, including Italy, France, Greece, Sweden, Poland, Russia, Israel, and the USA, appeared in the Usedomer Music Festival (Germany), Festival di Londra (Italy), the EPTA Festival (Cyprus), the Brighton Festival, YCAT/Landor Piano Festival, and the Vilnius Festival (with the Fine Arts Quartet, the USA). She has won numerous international competitions, including the Rubinstein Piano Competition in Paris (1998), the Tel-Hai International Piano Competition (Israel, 1999), earned first prize in Oxford (2002), second prize in Dudley (UK) and third prize at the Čiurlionis International Competition (1999). In addition, E. Puzaitė is an avid writer and composer. She has been recognized at the Grodno Composers’ Competition, where she was awarded second prize. Her first book Tempo Primo – a collection of short stories and poetic insights – was published in November 2008.
