Having the love of his numerous fans by his impressive appearances, Modestas Pitrėnas offers a programme featuring two profound 20th-century Russian composers.
Sergei Prokofiev’s first ‘barbaric’ opuses astounded the audiences. In 1917, he composed his First Violin Concerto. This work revealed another side of his talent – pure, soulful and restrained lyricism. Tonight’s performance will feature Sergej Malov who appeared with the LNSO three years ago. A first prize winner of international competitions in Sankt Petersburg, Goricia and Vienna, and graduate of Mozarteum Salzburg, the violinist has collaborated with Sankt Petersburg Philharmonic, Hermitage, Kaliningrad SO, Bavarian Chamber Orchestra and Vienna’s Tonkünstler, appeared in Sankt Petersburg Philharmonic, Madrid Auditorio Nacional, Mozart Hall in Zaragoza, World Expo in Hanover, Mozarteum Salzburg and Vienna’s Musikverein.
Khachaturian’s ballet music pulsates with fiery dance rhythms. Its melodics is based not only on Armenian, but also folklore from cultures.
