Part of the ORCHESTRAL MUSIC SERIES

This time the National Philharmonic Hall hosts an intriguing trio: the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, celebrating its 50th anniversary, Povilas Stravinskas, a Lithuanian pianist who has made Seatle (USA) his home two decades ago and has kept regularly visiting his native country with concerts, and Pietro Borgonovo, an Italian conductor making his debut in Lithuania. Pietro Borgonovo is considered to be one of the leading conductors of both the symphonic repertoire and opera. He is regularly invited to conduct in Arena di Verona and Salzburg festivals, La Fenice Theatre in Venice, Teatro dell’Opera in Rome, and Maggio Musicale Florentino. He has appeared in La Scala (Milan), Carnegie Hall (New York), and concert halls of Berlin, Paris, Madrid, Amsterdam, Bairoit, Moscow, St. Petersburg, etc. Tonight’s programme features opuses by Bach, Haydn, Richard Strauss and Goffredo Petrassi, an Italian composer lesser known in Lithuania.
