OLIVIER MESSIAEN – Turangalîla-Symphonie
Part of the ORCHESTRAL MUSIC SERIES
Messiaen’s Turangalila symphony can be called the 20th-century hymn to love, which was inspired by the story of Tristan and Isolde affecting artists of various epochs. Performance of this monumental score gives merit to any concert institution. After ten years Turangalila returns to the big stage of the Lithuanian National Philharmonic. Once again, it will be conducted by Cyril Diederich, the master of baton from France. Ondes Martenot, the intriguing electronic instrument designed in the beginning of the 20th century, will be played by French Bruno Perrault, while the challenging piano part will be entrusted to Gryta Tatorytė, a Lithuanian pianist of younger generation.
