Part of the ORCHESTRAL MUSIC SERIES
The LNSO’s 70th anniversary series invites to an evening of academic music featuring the charismatic baton maestro Modestas Pitrėnas, violist Jonė Kaliūnaitė, living in Germany, and singer Raminta
Vaicekauskaitė, a subtle chamber musician. Symbolically, the concert opens with Balys Dvarionas’ Festive Overture By the Amber Shore. The programme proceeds with Walton’s Concerto, one of the most challenging works in viola repertoire, which was premiered by the 20th-century neo-classicist Hindemith as a soloist, and Mahler’s Forth Symphony, which already in its premiere claimed the hearts with sincere and pure song The Heavenly Life emerging in the finale.
